The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development has a clearly defined process for students transitioning from primary school into secondary education.

For students who attend a government primary school, Grade 6 students will be issued with the Year 6 to Year 7 Transition Information Pack and the Application for Placement form by their primary school in Term 2. Parents are asked to nominate up to three secondary schools, in order of preference, which they would like their child to attend for their secondary education. This form needs to be completed and returned to the primary school. Primary schools then send St Albans Secondary College information pertaining to students who have included our school on their list of preferences.

Students who attend a non-government school (Catholic, independent or home school) return the non-government primary school Year 6 to Year 7 Transition Information Pack and the Application for Placement form directly to our General Office, at the College.

The priority order of enrolments are managed in accordance with the Department of Education’s Placement Policy.

In Term 3, families will receive notification of enrolment, and additional enrolment forms to complete. Parents will be notified of an Enrolment Day where they can receive assistance with completing the documents at the College.

In Term 4, St Albans Secondary College will host a Welcome Evening and Student Orientation Sessions, amongst other events, for those who will be joining our school community the following year. The Student Orientation Day will allow students to meet their classmates and teachers, form new friendships and gain the confidence to have a seamless transition into secondary education.

*Please note that due to COVID-19 restrictions, there may be some changes to our usual Transition Program.
