Senior School Report
Year 12 VCAA Exams
The Year 12 VCAA external examinations have almost concluded for the year. Thank you to our experienced VCAA exam supervisors and the Senior Sub School team who ensured the smooth running of the exams. Thank you also to our Year 12 VCE students who attended all their exams on time and were always well prepared. We wish them the best of luck with their final results, which will be released on December 12, 2022.
Western Health Partnership
On Thursday 20 October, a group of Year 12 VCAL students attended the Rehabilitation Ward at Sunshine Hospital to deliver their complex project. In consultation with the patients and occupational therapists, the VCAL students built an outdoor hardwood table and bench, and created ‘nature inspired’ artwork and mosaic. The students did a fantastic job, and the hospital staff were appreciative of their efforts. The students’ work will contribute to creating a warm, welcoming and aesthetically pleasing environment for the hospital community.
Year 11 VCAL Community Project
On Wednesday 26 October, the VCAL students ran a fundraiser to support the Interact Club to reach their financial target for Project W – WASH for Education. The students planned, organised and ran stalls selling homemade sushi rolls, popcorn, barbeque, donuts, truffles, homemade toffee apples, a raffle and more. They raised a total of $1,090.75. All proceeds raised will go towards Project W to provide clean and safe drinking water to schools in Cambodia. Thank you to everyone who supported the cause.
Transition from VCAL to the VCE VM
This is the last year that VCAL will run at St Albans Secondary College. In 2023, the VCE VM (Vocational Major) will replace the existing VCAL at the Intermediate and Senior levels. The VCE Vocational Major is a two-year vocational and applied learning program that will enable transition into apprenticeships, traineeships, further education and training and university (via non-ATAR pathways). Orientation Programs
Our Year 11 VCE students started their Year 12, 2023 Orientation Program on Thursday 10th November 2022, and our VCE VM students started on Monday 14th November 2022. The VCE Students will have completed their first formative assessment by the end of the program.
The Year 11 Orientation Program will run from Thursday 24th November to Thursday 1st December 2022.
Year 12 Formal
The Year 12 students are looking forward to celebrating at their formal this Thursday,17th November 2022 at Luxor Reception Centre. 176 tickets have been sold so far. Photos to follow in the next Newsletter.
