Year 9

The Year 9 program offers a combination of core and elective subjects.  

Two Language Enrichment classes are offered.  These will be timetabled within the elective blocks.  One Language enrichment class will predominantly cater for ESL students needing literacy support, while the other will cater for other students identified as needing language enrichment.

Each student choses 3 semester-based electives, which include units from the Arts, Technology. ICT & LOTE

Students that have taken part in the SEAL program in Years 7 and 8, will be an automatic participant in the Yr 9 SEAL program if their academic results remain strong.

The College offers EAL classes to students who speak a language other than English at home, and who have been enrolled in an Australian school for less than five years.

St Albans Secondary College’s Accelerated Learning Program caters for the special educational needs of high ability students.  It operates on the principles of Curriculum Acceleration and Enrichment.  It offers high achieving students the opportunity to extend and enrich their learning and provides participants with challenging and engaging course material in all core subjects.

This program is available to Year 9 students who are performing in English within the expected range but have not shown strong growth.

This intervention program in undertaken by the student for one term only.  Students will participate in the LEP in conjunction with their regular English classes.
