Whole School Scholarships & Awards

Our college offers a range of scholarships to support and reward students for their academic achievements, extracurricular involvement, and overall potential. These scholarships are designed to provide opportunities for students to excel in their chosen fields of study and to provide assistance where needed.

Scholarships may be awarded based on academic merit, leadership, sporting excellence, or artistic ability. Specific eligibility criteria and application details can be found below.

In addition to our range of scholarships available at our college, we also have the Year 7 Scholarship Program that is available to all enrolling Year 7 students.

Available to All Year Levels

Awarded to one or two students for voluntary and active tasks benefitting the community.

  • Award available to all students in Years 7 – 12
  • Value – $850
  • Nominated by Teachers and Sub School Coordinators
  • Student can self nominate
  • Annually until 2026

Awarded to motivated young people that demonstrate high achieving results, leadership and artistic talent. Conditions apply for Scholarship use.

  • Award available to all students from Years 7 – 12
  • Value – $600 – $1200
  • Nominations administered by the Scholarship Coordinator
  • Annually

Awarded to secondary school students who provide care and support to a family member with an illness or disability.

  • Award available to all students from Years 7 – 12
  • Value upto $500
  • Nominated by Wellbeing Team
  • Annually

In recognition of students who exemplify the school values of Respect, Leadership and Excellence.  Students will have an attendance rate of 90% or over, will always behave in accordance with expectations and are respectful to both other students and staff.  They will have worn the school uniform correctly throughout the year.

  • Awarded to one student from each of the 3 sub school
  • Prize – Apple Ipad
  • Students who meet the criteria will have their names put in a prize pool
  • Winners are selected randomly
  • Annually

Available to Specific Year Levels

Year 7 & 8 Students

Each year, the Junior Sub School will present the following awards at their last assembly of the year to a student of each home group in Year 7 & 8.

  • Academic Achievement Award
  • Most Improved Award
  • Consistent Effort Award

Each year the Junior Sub School will present this award at their last assembly for the year.  Awarded to a student that displays engagement in different aspects of the school community.

  • Awarded to a Year 7 & Year 8 student

Awarded to the top academic student in each year level.  This award is presented at their last school assembly for the year. 

  • Awarded to a Year 7 & 8 student

Year 8 Students (Female)

This scholarship awards girls in Australian public secondary schools,  Scholarship recipients have a high academic potential and are dedicated.  They do not currently have access to the resources that they need to make the most of their educational opportunities.

  • Award available to Year 8 female students
  • Award – High quality laptop in the first year as well as four years of online IT support, High Speed Internet, $2500 worth of online face to face tutoring, online homework help, prepaid expense cards for school needs such as uniforms, textbooks and school excursions.  Each scholar is allocated a personal coach who supports and guides them through the four years of the program.

Year 9 & 10 Students

Awarded to top performing Year 9 and Year 10 students based on student reports.

  • Award avaialbe to one Year 9 and one Year 10 student
  • Nominated by the Middle Sub School Coordinators
  • Awarded in the final school assembly by each of the year levels for the year
  • Annually

Each year the Middle Sub School will present this award to a top performing student in each subject.  This award will be presented at their last assembly for the year.

  • Award available to Year 9 and 10 students
  • On award per subject in each year level.

Year 10 Students

Awarded to a student who shows outstanding achievment in Science (student must intend to continue Science in their VCE studies).

  • Award available to Year 10 students
  • Value – $120
  • Nominated by the Science Coordinator
  • Annually

Awarded to a student who shows outstanding growth and achievement in English. 

  • Award available to Year 10 students
  • Value – $250
  • Nominated by the English Coordinator in conjunction with the Middle Sub School Coordinators
  • Annually

Affiliated with Melb University,  An academic enrichment program designed to support high achieving Year 10 students going into VCE.

  • Award available to Year 10 students
  • Guaranteed entry to Melbourne University (needing minimum ATAR requirements)
  • Nominated by Middle Sub School Coordinators
  • Annually

This scholarship supports students experiencing economic, family or social challenges that are impacting their ability to pursue their desired tertiary pathways. 

  • Award available to Year 10 students
  • Value – $7000 paid over 3 years
  • Nominated by Middle Sub School Coordinators
  • Annually

For talented and motivated young people facing financial barriers to assist them in successfully completing their Yr 11 & Yr 12 studies.

  • Awarded to one or split between two Yr 10 students
  • Value – $1000 per year for two years
  • Nominated by  Middle Sub School Coordinators
  • Annually

Marrung education scholarships support Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students to complete Years 11 & 12.  The scholarship recognises students who demonstrate a high potential to succeed in their chosen pathway.

  • Award available to Year 10 students
  • Value – $5000 ($2500 over two years)
  • Nominated by Middle Sub School Coordinators
  • Annually

Year 10 & 12 Students

Awarded to students who demonstrate leadership and teamwork within both the school and the broader community.

  • Award available  to Year 10 and Year 12 students
  • Value – $250 (Yr 10) / $550 (Year 12)
  • Nominated by Middle Sub School and Senior Sub School Coordinators
  • Annually

This scholarship helps young people living in public or community housing, or those at risk of homelessness, get the support they need to stay in school and achieve their potential.

Year 11 Students

Awarded to a student who shows commitment and potential in Psychology (student must intend to continue Psychology in Year 12).

  • Awarded to a Year 11 student
  • Value – $250
  • Nominated by Year 11 Psychology teachers in conjunction with the Senior Sub School Coordinator
  • Annually

This scholarship is designed to assist talented Year 11 Arts students with their VCE studies.  Scholarship funds are kept at the school and will be used to purchase materials and equipment for the following years study.  Conditions apply for these scholarships.

  • Award available to Year 11 students
  • Four Scholarships Awarded in the categories of Art Making and Exhibiting, Visual Communication and Design, Music & Fashion
  • Value – $1000 per scholarship 
  • Nominated by Arts staff

Awarded to a student that displays leadership in their local community, has a willingness to help others and enjoys thinking of new ideas to solve real-world problems. This award is offered to one studen from each of Deakin’s select group of schools.

  • Awarded to a Year 11 student
  • Value – $500 upon winning the award.  The remaining $4,500 will be received across the first year of undergraduate study at Deakin University.

Year 12 Students

This award assists young people who have had to overcome adversity, who have shown committment to their goals and education.  The foundation aims to financially help disadvantaged students with little or no support of their own to make the tranisition from secondary school to a tertiary environment.

  • Award available to Year 12 students
  • Value – Approximately $5000 each year towards the cost of the tertiary course, as well as support and guidance from mentors
  • Nominated by the Senior Sub School Coordinators in conjunction with the Pathways Team
  • Annually

This scholarship is offered to Year 12 students with excellent academic results and a strong record of contribution to the school or the wider community.

  • Award available to Year 12 students
  •  Value – A one off allowance of $5000 paid in the first semester of enrolment in a University of Melbourne undergraduate course
  • Scholarship is subject to conditions
  • Nominated by Principal Team in consultation with Senior Sub School Coordinators and the Pathways Team
  • Annually

In recognition of our highest ranked VCE student based on their ATAR score.

  • Awarded to a Yr 12 VCE student with the top ATAR score
  • Named after the VCE results are published
  • Annually

This prgram supports talented young people facing challenging life circumstances to complete university and gain the skills needed for an employable future.

  • Award available to Year 12 students
  • A three to five year program, dependent on length of univerisity degree and the sponsorship model.
  • Nominated by the Senior Sub School Coordinators
  • Annually

Awarded to a student who contributes to both the school and wider community. Acknowledging the example they set for others through qualities of leadership, commitment and achievement. Engages enthusiastically in the arts, sports, and community services, demonstrating a well rounded character.  Consistently exhibits strong leadership, teamwork, empathy and a commitment to personal growth.

  • Award available to Year 12 students
  • Award – Medal and a certificate from Ampol
  • Nominated by the Senior Sub School Coordinators
  • Annually

Honouring a student who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to their studies, consisitently achieving high grades across all their subjects.  They not only exemplify academic excellence but also a strong work ethic, resilience, integrity and a passion for learning.  This award reflects the student’s exceptional ability to embrace challenge and persue excellence.

  • Award available to Year 12 VCE students
  • Award – A glass plaque and a certificate
  • Nominated by the Senior Sub School Coordinators

This award recognises a student who has demonstrated outstanding dedication  to their school-based subjects, as well as their vocational studies and has excelled in both practical and thoretical components of their course work. The recipient exemplifies a commitment to their chosen pathway, strong work ethic, resilience and personal growth.
