Year 9 Advance Program

Year 9 Advance Class – First Aid Course – Life Saving First Aid

We are pleased to announce that the Year 9 Advance class has successfully completed their recent first aid course with Life Saving First Aid.

During the course, students gained valuable, potentially life-saving skills and knowledge, including:

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) techniques: Performing chest compressions and rescue breaths
  • Management of choking: Administering back blows
  • The Recovery Position: How to place an unconscious breathing person into the recovery position.
  • Defibrillator Use: Understanding the purpose of a defibrillator and how to use one in an emergency.

The course included a fun and interactive practical component, where students worked together, turning theory into practice. This hands-on experience helped them develop their skills and build confidence in their ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.

This training has equipped them with the confidence and ability to act as first responders in various emergency situations. We are incredibly proud of their dedication and commitment to learning these essential skills.

Clean up Australia day

On Tuesday, 18th March, the Year 9 Advance students from St Albans Secondary College participated in Clean Up Australia Day, making a positive impact on the local community. The students were enthusiastic and well-behaved throughout the day, demonstrating a genuine commitment to environmental responsibility and community service.

Equipped with gloves, rubbish bags, and a determination to make a difference, the students cleaned up the local park, oval, and surrounding streets. They collected a significant amount of litter, including plastic bottles, cans, wrappers, and other debris, helping to restore the area’s natural beauty and create a cleaner, safer environment for everyone.

The day was not only an opportunity to tidy up the community but also a valuable learning experience. Students gained a deeper understanding of the importance of caring for the environment and the impact of waste on local ecosystems. Their efforts were appreciated by local residents who witnessed their dedication to making a positive change.

Overall, the event was a great success, and the Year 9 Advance students should be proud of their hard work and contribution to a cleaner, greener community. Their actions reflect the school’s values of respect, responsibility, and leadership, setting a fantastic example for others to follow.
