Year 9 Advance Program

From Classroom to Community: ADVANCE Students Step Up

On Tuesday 31 March 2026, our Year 9 ADVANCE students proudly represented the college during a visit to St Albans East Primary School, where they supported the school’s annual Cross Country event.

From the moment they arrived, our students embraced the opportunity to give back to the local community. Whether they were positioned along the course guiding runners, assisting staff with organisation, or cheering loudly at the finish line, their presence was felt throughout the entire event. Their encouragement helped lift the energy of the day, with many primary students responding positively to the support and motivation.

What stood out most was the way our ADVANCE students conducted themselves. They demonstrated maturity, initiative, and a strong sense of responsibility, stepping confidently into leadership roles and modelling positive behaviour for younger students. Their willingness to engage, encourage, and support others reflected the core values of the ADVANCE program.

Events like this highlight the importance of community connection and service learning. By stepping outside the classroom and contributing in meaningful ways, students gain valuable real-world experience while making a genuine impact. Our students represented the college with pride, showing kindness, enthusiasm, and a strong commitment to helping others succeed.

We are incredibly proud of the effort and attitude displayed by our Year 9 ADVANCE cohort. Their contribution not only supported the smooth running of the event but also strengthened our connection with the local community. It was a rewarding experience for all involved, and we look forward to continuing these opportunities in the future.
