Speed Careering Inspires Year 10 Students
On Thursday 19 June, we hosted our annual Speed Careering event—a fast-paced and engaging experience designed to help Year 10 students explore a variety of career pathways as they prepare to make important subject and pathway decisions in Term 3. The event brought together a diverse group of professionals from fields including aviation, biomedical research, nursing, law, banking, policing, space science, physiotherapy, paramedicine, and more.
Across two sessions, students rotated through a series of 10-minute presentations, where they had the chance to hear firsthand about the day-to-day realities of different careers, the journeys speakers had taken to get there, and the skills and experiences that matter most in each field. The success of the day was evident not only in the calibre of guest speakers but also in the exceptional focus, maturity, and curiosity shown by our wonderful students. They asked insightful questions, listened attentively, and some even chose to stay back during recess and lunch to continue quizzing the presenters.
The energy in the Nindethana building was one of genuine engagement and aspiration. Students left the event with valuable insights to guide their next steps—and a few even left with a spring in their step, having kindled a new passion to pursue. A huge thank you goes to all the staff, presenters, and Year 10 Student Representative Council (SRC) leaders who helped make the event such a meaningful and successful one.
