Under the Coverslip – 2024 Winners

Congratulations to Eliana Selvarajah (11F) and Ngoc Trinh (11F) on winning the state-wide ‘Under the Coverslip – Science Meets Arts’ competition!

This competition was part of the Biomedical Sciences Day held in term three at GTAC and the University of Melbourne (UniMelb). It involved students working alongside scientists to capture micrographs of research specimens using light, fluorescence and scanning electron microscopes.

Eliana and Ngoc’s entries, ingeniously named ‘A Day by the Seaside’ and ‘Galactic Parasites’ respectively, were adjudged by Professor Jenny Wilkinson-Berka, Head of the School of Biomedical Sciences at UniMelb, to be among the top three submissions in Victoria. This meant that St Albans Secondary College had two out of the three winning entries this year!

Their artwork is being showcased on the GTAC and UniMelb websites, and will also be displayed here in the school’s Science Centre. They will also receive UniMelb merchandise as part of their prizes.
