We welcome back all Middle School students and families from the term break and look forward to working with you to support all students achieve their best. Middle School students have had a busy start to Term 2, with several excursions and opportunities for year 9 and 10 students to participate in.
Year level assemblies were held in week 2, where we celebrated ‘Better Together’ week. A week filled with opportunities to remember that we can all achieve more when we work as a community and support each other. Performances throughout the week provided opportunities for all staff and students to celebrate our cultures, which culminated in Multicultural Day on Friday 2nd May.
The assemblies also provided an opportunity to celebrate student successes from term 1, as we drew the next round of raffle tickets and handed out prizes. Students receive a ticket for being safe, responsible and respectful in the yard and classroom, with the chance of winning a prize. Congratulation to the winners that were drawn this term!
Year 9 students have continued their work that began in term 1 with the Morrisby Interviews. This term they been attending their one-on-one career counselling interviews, where they explored the results from their online survey. Students were guided through the results and were provided with the necessary tools required to start thinking about their career pathway.
Year 10 Forensic Science students visited the Gene Technology Access Centre (GTAC) where they took on the role of an investigator trying to solve the fictitious case of disappearing birds. They were taught forensic techniques and had the opportunity to use laboratory grade research equipment. This will contribute to the work they have been completing in class during the semester.
We hope all our Middle School students and families have had a safe and warm start to term two and we look forward to the upcoming exam and semester test periods where students can put all of their hard work and effort on show.
