The EAL program at St Albans Secondary College aims to align its curriculum with the mainstream English curriculum where possible, but to differentiate it where necessary for students in the International Program. This means that EAL classes are specifically designed to support students by providing informed teaching and assessment to address students’ language needs. This approach better helps to prepare them for the academic requirements of secondary and tertiary study, and for their transition to mainstream English classes.
