Our Inclusion lunchtime programs have been such a hit already this term! We have introduced Singing Club, become obsessed with our new games in Games Club and Outdoor Club, created some decorations for the Library and Halloween, and are working hard on creating Communication Cards for our event on 30 October (see Alessandra, Speech Pathologist’s, ALBA entry below).
Check out the posters around the school for club details. We’d love to see you there! First in best dressed.

AAC (Argumentative and Alternative Communication) Awareness Month
October is AAC Awareness Month! AAC stands for Augmentative and Alternative Communication. AAC includes the many different ways people communicate when speech is difficult or not always accessible, such as communication cards, communication boards, gestures, signs and speech-generating devices.
Communication is a human right. The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) recognises the right of people with disability to communicate in the way that works best for them. AAC gives people different ways to express themselves, communicate their needs and have their voice heard.
This month, we celebrate and raise awareness of the different ways people communicate and encourage everyone to listen, be patient and give people the time and tools they need to communicate.
To celebrate, on 30 October we will be giving away a variety of communication cards at the front of the library! Come along and mix and match your own communication card set, made by our staff and students in communication card club on Fridays. Check out a variety of themes, including Pokémon, Round the Twist, emojis and more!
