House Chess Championship Wrap-Up
The House Chess Championship has been a huge success this year! Over three lunchtimes from Monday to Wednesday, we saw an incredible turnout, with 48 players stepping up to the challenge and plenty of spectators cheering them on. The competition was fierce, and every participant earned House points for each game played.
The Road to the Finals
After three intense days, we found our top 16 finalists, who battled it out in a thrilling round-robin elimination. Congratulations to these students for making it to this stage.

The Grand Final Showdown
Our two finalists, Jonathan Mai 8C and Nhan Nguyen 12E, faced off in an intense best-of-three grand final. After a hard-fought battle, Jonathan emerged victorious, earning 200 points for Buttrose. Nhan secured second place, earning 100 points for Rosewall—an incredible achievement!
Over the course of the tournament, more than 120 games were played, with all participants earning valuable House points. The final House points were:
- Rosewall – 168
- Buttrose – 252
- Freeman – 50
- Irwin – 44
