Students Reflection
I’ve been a part of MAC since I first came to school in year 7. Now I’m in year 10 having done MAC for the 4th year in a row and I’m so happy to have been able to participate in this year’s production of Monty Python’s Spamalot!
In Spamalot, we got to explore the fantastical world of medieval England with the masterful comedic touch of Monty Python. I had the honour of playing a couple different roles, though I most thoroughly connected with the mother of an over-confident and under-intelligent son (he’s like that in real life too but we love him anyway).
MAC for me is also a home away from home. Over the course of the two months, we spend with each other, we become a family of sorts, sticking together through the ups and the downs. We stay late at school or the theatre, labour over every scene until it meets Ms Tamraz’s high standards, and work through every problem that arises with costume changes or backstage.
The work beforehand is of course, all worth it in the end. Being able to perform in front of such fantastic audiences and alongside such incredible people is why I keep coming back to MAC, and being able to perform in a professional theatre for the first year has been a highlight.
Sadly, this year will have been my last as I need to focus on my VCE studies over the next two years, so I made sure to give it my absolute all. I know everyone around me keeps begging me to join next year but I’m sorrrrry I need to focus on school. – Apirana Nicol (Yr 10)
