Middle School Report

A warm welcome to our Middle School families and students. We hope the term break has been safe and restful for all our students, who have a busy term ahead of them.

We started Week 1 with a parent information evening for all Year 10 students and families. It was wonderful to see the gymnasium full, as Cathy Armstrong and the Middle School team spoke about the Course Counselling and Year 11 subject selection process for 2026. Students are busy considering their pathways as they prepare their subject selection forms. On Thursday 31 July students attended their Course Counselling interview with their coordinator, to discuss their subject choices. On behalf of the Middle School, I’d like to thank Cathy Armstrong and her team for the dedication and work required to ensure our students are best prepared when making decisions about their future.

Year 10 students finished Term 2 with a busy calendar, as they finished their semester exams, participated in the Proactive Programs and completed the Work Experience program. The Proactive Programs provided students with the opportunity to participate in a number of sessions, from cooking, CV writing and self-defence and many more. The Programs were supported by several staff who supervised or ran sessions. I’d like to thank the entire Middle School Team, Wellbeing Team, Principal Class and staff that shared their skills, knowledge and time to make this a very successful week. We ended the week with a celebratory assembly, where student success was showcased. Congratulations to all who received an award!

The Middle School would like to congratulate Joshua Gacovski, Braiden Greenall and Aaron Surace for their completion and graduation from the AGA Trade Taster course in Semester 1. The students attended the offsite program one day a week where they fostered their knowledge and skills in four trade areas. All students worked tirelessly throughout the semester and have placed themselves in a strong position to excel in their chosen trade.

Year 9 students also participated in the Course Counselling program in Week 2, where they chose their subjects for Year 10 2026. The Morrisby Testing and support from the Careers team was vital in this decision for students. We look forward to working with students and families to ensure their success as they move into Year 10 and beyond.

Semester 1 reports were made available thorough Compass at the end of Term 2. Coordinators have been contacting families to discuss these results, and we continue to encourage all students to check their reports. An important part of growth is ensuring we reflect on our efforts and goals and adjust them as we move forward.

As we enter the second half of the year, we want to wish all families a safe and warm start to Term 3 and congratulate all students on their efforts so far this year.
