Term 3 has started positively, with a range of exciting events celebrating the achievements of our senior students and providing valuable opportunities to support their learning and future pathways.
VCE Priemer Awards 2026
On Tuesday 21 July, Mr Krysinski and I had the pleasure of attending the Premier’s VCE Awards at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre to celebrate Kristijan Stanojoski (Year 12, 2025), who received the prestigious Premier’s VCE Award for his outstanding achievement in Unit 3 and 4 Macedonian, completed through Virtual School Victoria.
This award recognises Kristijan’s exceptional academic achievement, dedication, and commitment to excellence. Congratulations, Kristijan, on this remarkable accomplishment. We are incredibly proud of you and wish you every success in your future endeavours.
Year 12 VCE VM Real Talk
On Wednesday 22 July, our Year 12 VCE VM students participated in Real Talk, a careers event facilitated through our partnership with The Smith Family. The program provided our students with the opportunity to speak directly with professionals from a wide range of industries. Students gained valuable insights into different career pathways and the skills required for future employment. We thank The Smith Family, along with the community members and volunteers, for generously giving their time to share their experiences and provide this valuable learning opportunity for our students.
Year 10 & Year 11 VET Expo
In a collaborative Middle and Senior Sub School initiative, Year 10 Applied English students participated in a new Vocational Education Training (VET) Expo led by our Year 11 VCE VM students. The aim of the event was to provide Year 10 students with a clear understanding of the VET courses on offer, enabling them to make informed subject selections and to support improved engagement and retention throughout their two years of the VCE VM. The event began with an introduction to VET, before students explored interactive stalls showcasing the wide range of VET pathways available in Years 11 and 12. The current Year 11 VET students shared their experiences, provided resources and answered questions about their courses. This enabled Year 10 students to have an authentic insight into their potential VET course, and to support informed decision making as they prepare for course counselling and their future pathways. Well done to the Year 11 VCE VM students for their contribution to this initiative.
Year 11 to Year 12 Course Counselling
On Tuesday 28 July, our Year 11 students participated in Course Counselling, where they met with the Senior Sub School to discuss their learning progress, career aspirations and pathway options. Students received personalised guidance to help them select subjects that align with their interests, strengths, and career goals as they prepare for their final year of secondary education.
Year 12 Motivational Lunch
On Wednesday 12 August, Year 12 students will participate in our annual Motivational Lunch, featuring a special guest presenter who will share strategies and inspiration as students prepare for the final stages of their VCE journey.
Please note that students will not be permitted to leave the school grounds at lunchtime on this day.
Upcoming Lunchtime Activities
The VCE VM students are also in the process of organising lunchtime activities planned for Youth Day on Wednesday 5 August, the National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence on Friday 14 August, Wear it Purple Day on Friday 28 August, and “R U Ok? Day” on Friday 11 September. We encourage all students to join in the activities!
Study Skills Reminder
All Unit 4 coursework will be completed in Week 8. As the VCE exams are just around the corner, we encourage our students to use the skills they have learned in note-making and other study techniques to start preparing for their final exams. As a guide, students should be studying for 3 to 4 hours each night, with short breaks in between study sessions. We request parents/guardians to support their child by providing a quiet space to work, with minimal disruptions where possible.
