St Albans Secondary College is proud to be an accredited provider of education for international students. Our reputation for academic excellence has attracted students from overseas, mainly from Vietnam, who are currently completing their secondary education with us.
Our international students, and their families, are supported in their transition into secondary education in Melbourne by our experienced International Student Coordinator who speaks Vietnamese. They receive pre-departure advice and assistance, are greeted on arrival at the airport, and participate in a comprehensive orientation program to familiarise them with the local area, the school and their new education system.
Experienced homestay providers are carefully selected for the safe, secure and comfortable home environment they offer, and for their understanding of and respect for cultural differences. Our International Student Coordinator conducts home visits, and maintains regular contact with home stay families and parents. Each year, the Coordinator and Principal travel to Vietnam to conduct parent- teacher interviews with the families of the international students.
At St Albans Secondary College, international students are welcomed into a caring, disciplined learning environment. Their wellbeing and academic progress are continually monitored. Their learning is enhanced through the provision of extra English classes, as well as through extension and enrichment programs in English and Mathematics.
Each student’s transition to further education at university or TAFE is supported through extensive careers and pathways guidance and advice from our highly experienced Managed Individual Pathways Team. VCE results and post-school pathways for international students at our school are outstanding.
