Individual pathway interviews are conducted, upon request, for students at risk of early exit or disengagement, or those wishing to discuss pathway plans.
All year 12 students attend an annual Tertiary Information Service Presentation where the application process for tertiary courses and the VTAC processes are explained.
The Careers staff are all available to help students with planning and counselling regarding their tertiary applications, Special Entry Access Scholarships, VTAC, and private scholarships. Students can be assured of quality advice, help and confidentiality throughout this process. Individual appointments are made from mid August to end September.
The College subscribes to Career News, a fortnightly newsletter that contains up to date information from VTAC, tertiary providers, and industry. Each year 12 student and their parent/guardians will receive a copy via their Compass email address, along with any other relevant important information during the year.
Once year 12 students receive their ATAR score they have a few days in which they can change their tertiary applications to better align these with their achieved score. It is recommended that every year 12 student visit the Careers/MIPs office over this period, to ensure they achieve their desired post-secondary school outcome.
We are in the enviable position of having a 100% success rate placing students who follow advice given at interviews conducted during this time.
Every year 12 student is contacted by a member of the MIPs Team at this time, to ensure they understand the Tertiary Offer process. It is important that they understand how to accept, defer, decline or make a negotiated offer, and are guided through this process to ensure a smooth transition into their post-secondary pathway.
