Oceana Athletics Championships 2026
Representing Our School with Pride
This year, the Oceania Athletics Championships brought together more than 800 elite athletes from 20 Oceania nations, competing across junior, senior, para, and masters events. Among them was one of our own: Brandon Cvetanoski (Year 11), who stepped confidently onto the international stage and delivered an inspiring performance.
Competing at this level is no small feat. It requires discipline, resilience, and a commitment to excellence that reflects the very best of our school community.
Congratulations Brandon.
Parent-Teacher Interviews – Wednesday 16 September
We would like to invite all parents and guardians to parent teacher interviews to discuss their child’s progress with them. Students are expected to attend interviews with their parents so that they can take an active role in discussing their learning and setting goals for further improvements or challenge in each subject.
Important Information:
- No regular classes – students attend with their parent/guardian at their booked times.
Interview Sessions:
- 1:00pm – 3:30pm
- 4:30pm – 7:00pm
Interpreter Support:
- Available at the library on arrival.
- Limited availability – if possible, bring a family member or friend to assist.

Business Breakfast
Our Business Breakfast on 5 August 2026 was another outstanding success, bringing together valued industry and community partners for a morning of connection, conversation, and collaboration at the College. Expertly hosted by our VCE Vocational Major (VM) students, guests were warmly welcomed and treated to exceptional barista-made coffee, showcasing the students’ growing workplace skills and confidence. The event was complemented by an impressive catering spread prepared and served by our Hospitality VET students under the leadership of Daniella Karner, whose dedication to excellence was evident in every detail. Special thanks also go to Marlene Cassar and Laura Gough for their work supporting and organising our VCE VM students, and to Dane Stammers and Zoe Tranter for their outstanding coordination of the event. We were honoured to welcome Bill Dawson, Manager and Owner of Bridgestone St Albans, as our guest speaker. Bill spoke about the importance of education, training and industry partnerships, reflecting on the long-standing relationship between Bridgestone St Albans and our College, which continues to create valuable educational and employment opportunities for our students. The morning was a wonderful celebration of partnership, student achievement and community engagement.
Popstars! A Resounding Success
Congratulations to all MAC students and staff on the huge success of Popstars, performed at the Bowery Theatre last week.
Audiences were treated to a fantastic production that showcased the incredible talent, hard work and dedication of our students and staff over the past six months and beyond, with auditions beginning at the end of 2025.
Filled with popular tracks from the 90s, the show had audiences singing along and bopping in their seats. The joy and energy of the cast was infectious, and it was wonderful to see the students embrace every moment on stage.
We were also delighted to welcome many past MAC students to the performances, who returned to support the production and shared their excitement and pride in seeing the continued success of the MAC program.
Our current students also showed their support, with many attending performances and cheering on their peers. This wonderful sense of community was a real highlight of the week.
Special thanks to all staff who supported the production and particularly to Melissa Tamraz, (Director) Ashley Janky, (Producer) Melrose Tran (Musical Director) Josh Hall, Hebah Shone and James Orchard who were essential to the success of this production.
A huge congratulations to everyone involved in bringing Popstars to life. Your talent, commitment and teamwork made the production a tremendous success, and we are incredibly proud of you all!
NAIDOC Week celebrations: 50 Years of Deadly
NAIDOC week was during the recent school holidays so at St Albans Secondary College we celebrated NAIDOC Week during the first week of Term 3. On the first day of term, we had Wurundjeri Elder Perry Wandin provide a Welcome to Country, an ancient Indigenous protocol where Traditional Custodians formally welcome visitors to their ancestral lands, followed by a Smoking Ceremony.
Staff and students were welcomed and invited to walk through the smoke which is believed to be cleansing with the purpose of warding off negative spirits and promoting physical and spiritual wellbeing. It connects participants deeply to Country.
On Wednesday 15 July some students took part in First Nations Dance workshops, and these were followed by a lunchtime performance by the Dance Group which included some traditional dances. A number of staff and students participated in the group dances as part of the performance.
NAIDOC Week provides us an opportunity to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth.
