Alumnus Joins Proactive Programs at SASC
Last week, our Year 10 students participated in the Proactive Program, a comprehensive week of workshops aimed at self-improvement and enhancing personal skills.
The program commenced on Tuesday with a keynote address from esteemed alum Jonasi Eangano Singehebhuye ‘15. Eangano captivated the audience with his eloquence, storytelling, and role-modelling for our students. He unpacked the concept of being proactive, urging students to seek opportunities to make a positive impact. His presentation also emphasised the importance of self-discipline and perseverance, themes that will be further explored during our Onsite Work Experience Program later this week.
The Thursday featured the return of our highly anticipated Speed Careering event, a student favourite on our school calendar. The event was a resounding success, with 21 presenters showcasing diverse careers across two sessions. Each Year 10 student had the opportunity to learn about at least 10 career paths they could pursue after graduation. The students demonstrated outstanding behaviour, and presenters praised their insightful questions and high level of engagement. Remarkably, one student even secured a summer internship, a testament to their enthusiasm and preparation. We extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to all the alumni who participated in the event. Your involvement made a significant impact and was greatly valued.
This week marked the beginning of our Onsite Work Experience Program. Midweek featured an alumni takeover, featuring activities such as setting SMART goals, creating vision boards, engaging in communication games, and an inspiring workshop led by, none other than, Jonasi Eangano Singehebhuye ’15. Eangano once again empowered our onsite students with valuable insights on self-worth and leveraging opportunities through confidence and self-love. The activities included team-building exercises like human knots and ball and board tasks, fostering deep reflection and learning, all wrapped up in an atmosphere of fun and smiles.
